                                             PRAYERS TO GOD THE FATHER

I claim no originality for these prayers. I have studied collections of prayers by men of gifted words. These are thoughts of many preachers. I myself am not a man of gifted words. I have had brothers tell me that in leading prayer, "The words just don't come." Sometimes brothers pause in prayer and have a difficult time finishing the prayer. Christians in general sometimes have a problems of expressing their thoughts to God in prayer. If the thoughts in these prayers are of any value to young preachers, prayer-leaders in general, Christians in general, and to the readers of this website, it will be well worth the time it took me to put them on this website.

Almighty God, the only Potentate, the Father of all mankind, who alone has immortality, it is good to give you thanks and to sing praises to your name O Most High God. O Lord how great are your works, your loving kindness and your faithfulness. On this Lord's Day we lift up our voices in prayer and thanksgiving Our days are like the grass of the field but you are from everlasting to everlasting. Of old you laid the foundations of the earth and the heavens are the works of your hands. You made them all out of nothing. We thank you for the marvelous birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, his wonderful change from a heavenly being to an earthly being. We thank you for giving him a body to offer for the sins of the world on Calvary. We thank you for the sinless life he lived and for showing us the w ay, the truth and the life. In his name we come asking your blessings on us this day. We thank you for this day of worship.Help us to think of you as a God who is near, not far away, as caring for all our needs. We thank you for caring for all the sparrows and for being even more mindful of us. We give ourselves into your safe-keeping this day. Give us more love for those we love most. Give us more patience for the faults of others. Make us more mindful of own faults. Forgive us as we forgive those who trespass against us. Help us to be more patient and forgiving of one another. We ask your blessings on the sick and sorrowful. We lift up these petitions to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Lord God before whom one we shall give account, bless us this day with your love and favor and help us discharge our religious duties faithfully and well. We want to do right and be right. Keep us in the right way. Enlighten our understanding that we might know your will better and those things you have prepared for those who love you. Our tendency to indifference is great. Help us to put more love and zeal into our religion. Help us to understand the importance of will-power, and how to use it to do what is right and to become the kind of people you would have us to be. Break to us this day the bread of life for we hunger for righteousness. Quench our thirst with the water of life. Open our eyes that we might see the great things in your word. We pray for all members of this congregation who cannot be here because of weakness of the flesh. May your blessings be upon them. Forgive all things that are amiss in each of our lives. We pray for our President, for all kings and rulers and for all who are in places influence that they stand for those things that are right. Guide the leaders of the world. In the name Christ we ask it. Amen.

O Lord, our Lord in whose hands is life and death, by whose power we live, move and have our being and by whose mercy we have been spared, how excellent is your name in all the earth. You have given us days, months and years in which to live our lives, and for which we must one day give an account to you. Help us remember O G od that every day is your gift and ought to be used to your honor and glory. We thank you for this universe, our home you have given to the sons of men, and we thank you for the new heavens and the new earth you have prepared for all your sons and daughters in Christ. Forgive us of all we have thought, said and done which has been contrary to your will. Help us to take up our cross and follow Christ, no matter how difficult that cross may be. We thank you for blessings of the body and blessings of the soul. We have assembled this day to glorify your name, to magnify the name of your Son and commune with Him at His table and to be enlightened by the Holy Spirit. Build us up in the most holy faith, keep us in your love, and may we return to our homes justified in your sight. In the name of Christ Amen.

O Lord our God, we give thanks for you are good. We come into your presence with love in our heats and praise on our lips. Every Lord's Day reminds us that not only did the Great Shepherd of the sheep give His life for the sheep but also to the sheep. Not only does this day remind us of His sacrificial death but also of His glorious resurrection on the first day of the week long ago. To your people every Lord's Day is the day of the Lord's Resurrection. Every Sunday reminds us of the open tomb. Thank you for sending Him to die for us. Thank you for the life He lived and for raising Him from the dead. We thank you for His atoning sacrifice. Receive our thanks for saving our souls, for loving us and making us whole. We consider it a privilege to meet once more around the Lord's Table and proclaim to the world His death till He comes again. Although we do not perceive Him with the physical eye this day, yet the bread and the fruit of the vine helps us to realize that He is in our midst. We long for the day when we shall see Him in His glorious bodily presence., even as He promised us. Each one of us asks for the forgiveness of sins that we might participate in this worship and meet around His table in an acceptable manner. May no one leave this place unforgiven this morning. Give us strength and sustenance as we feed on your word. All these things we ask for in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Our heavenly Father we come in love and devotion to seek your favor in this hour of service. Our purpose is to keep your commandment to worship you in spirit and in truth. We ask your forgiveness of all sins committd in the past week. May they all be blotted out of your book of remembrance. All things come from you, and to you we would look up in ratitude and love. We thank you for your kind providence and watch-care over our lives, for every deliverance of danger or sickness, for every trouble you have averted from our homes, for every kindness we have received and for every pleasure you have allowed us to enjoy. We thank you for raising Jesus Christ from the dead and for he living hope it gives to all mankind. Bless us not in this hour's service, and may each one of return our home justified in your sight. In the name of Jesus we ask it. Amen.

Our heavenly Father, we come in love and devotion to seek your favor in this hour of worship. We have come to exalt you as the Father of all mankind and the giver of every perfect gift. We give thanks for your abiding love and concern for mankind. We thank you for visiting us long ago through the sending of your divine Son Jesus. We thank you for your kingdom which Christ established on this earth. Our purpose in coming together is to keep your commandment to remember what your Son did for us and to thank you for your love in sending him to be the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. As citizens of your kingdom in this world we know that we have a right to speak to you and draw near to you in worship. Help us this day; may your blessings be upon us. Lift us up in the Christian faith. Keep us mindful of the fact that by the blood of your Son we are cleansed from our sins and are now heirs of the Most High God and join-heirs of Christ. Look down on us with Your favor in this hour of worship. In the name of Christ we pray. Amen.

Almighty God, the Everlasting God, ever to be adored is your name. We would humbly thank you for your goodness to us during this past week. By your favor and providence we have been kept from many dangers and sorrows. It is from you that we receive every good and perfect gift. Pardon all the sins of the past week by the atonement of Christ. Thank you for extending our lives to this present Lord's Day. We honor your only beloved Son not only as the Head of the Church but as the King of Kings and the Ruler over all nations of the earth. We give thanks that the kingdom of Christ is now extended to most all nations of the earth We thank you for the privilege to meet again around the Lord's Table and for another opportu;nity to study your word. Open our eyes and give us an understanding of the words we shall study today. We ask your blessing on all of us assembled togethr. Receive these joyful hymns as we sing with the spirit and understanding. In the name of Christ Amen.

Our Father in heaven, the great and mighty God, unto you be glory and power and dominion now and forevermore. We thank you for this day that belongs to your beloved Son. Help us to use its hours wisely. We have assemble this day to honor You the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Grant us some share in the chorus of praise that ascends this day to your throne We ask your forgiveness for all that we have, thought, aid and done that has been contrary to your divine will. May this day help us onward toward the heavenly rest which remains for the people of God. We ask your blessings on the President of the United States, for congress and all who are in positions of leadership. Give them the wisdom to improve the financial economy of our nation and lessen the suffering resulting from the loss of jobs in the workplace. We pray for the peace of the world and for all in the world who do know Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We pray for all soldiers of all nations who are in harm's way on this Lord's Day. We ask your continued blessings on our nation. As disciples of Christ we come on the first day of the week to break the bread and to center our thoughts on the Lord's death as represented in the Lord's Supper. May your blessings be on the members of this church suffering from weakness of the flesh.  We pray in the name of Your Divine Son. Amen.

Lord God Almighty, the one true God of all mankind, with your great power and outstretched arm You made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and you give the earth to anyone you please. We thank you for giving us the land of America, a land flowing with milk and honey. We thank You for our coming together on this Lord's Day morning. It is here that we learn our duty to You and to each other. It is here that we proclaim to the world that Jesus Christ is coming again by breaking the bread together and drinking the cup together. Forgive us of any wrongdoing we have committed in thought, word or deed since we last met around the Lord's Table so that we can come to His table in a fitting manner. Remember the absent ones, bless us all together and keep us in your love. May the words of our mouth and the thoughts of our heart in this hour of worship be acceptable in Your sight. In the name of Christ our Redeemer we pray. Amen..

O Lord, our Lord, God of heaven and earth, we have assembled on this Lord's Day as priests of the most high God to sing praises to Your name O Most High and to declare Your loving-kindness in the morning and your faithfulness every night. Surely the world you made of old is established so that it cannot be moved. Your testimonies are very sure. Teach us as your people to walk uprightly, work righteousness and speak the truth in our hearts. We have come together in assembly to break the bread which represents the broken body of Your Son and our Savior May we see in this symbolic bread the broken and beaten body of Your Son lifted up on Calvary. As we are once more privileged to eat this bread in His remembrance, may it generate in our hearts and lives spiritual and moral strength for the living of life. As we drink from the cup which you say is a cup of blessing may we see in it in the atonement made for us by the blood of Christ. Forgive our sins as we appear before you in worship. Accept our words, our thoughts, our prayers, our hymns and our worship, for we ask it in the name of Jesus. Amen.

O Lord, God of our salvation, we thank you for once more allowing us to meet before the throne of grace, and we thank you for all the mercies of the past week. We are prone to err through weakness of the flesh. Forgive us of anything amiss in our lives since we have met before you in worship. You know all our infirmities and weaknesses. We praise you for the refreshment of the past night and for the gift of this Lord's Day. Our times are in your hand. It is in you that we live, move and have our being. Teach us how to all do all things without murmurings and disputings. Look down on us with mercy and grace. Give us those things that you see we have need of. May your blessings be upon the further exercises of this day. For this beautiful place of worship we give thanks where we can lift up our voices in prayer, praise and song. Bless our study of your word this morning and give us understanding. In the name of Christ. Amen.

O Lord God, You are our God, the one true God who has washed us clean in the blood of Lamb who laid down His life for the sheep. . You are not only the God of Christians but you are the one true God of the entire earth existing in the persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. How awesome are your works. Through the greatness of your power, you are now worshiped by the disciples of Jesus in all nations on earth. The knowledge of Christ has covered the earth as the waters cover the sea. We are met in assembly on the first day of the week to honor this day and to make a joyful noise to the God of our salvation. Thank you for sending Christ to be the Savior of the world. As we open the Bible and meditate on your word we see how awesome you are in your doing towards the sons of men. Thank you for your providence and mercy that keeps us alive. Do not allow our feet to be moved for You O God have tested us, but lead us not into temptation for we lack strength and courage. Let your blessings be on us today as we consider some of your awesome works. In the name of Christ Amen.

Closing prayer

Now may the God of peace, who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of an everlasting covenant, make us complete in every good work, to do His will, working in us what is well pleasing in You sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be  the gllory forever and ever. In then name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

O Lord our Lord, the heavens declare your glory, the atmosphere shows the work of your hands, and the earth shows your awsome works. We thank you for this day of worship and for this day when your people break the bread in remembrance of Jesus. Help to use this day for the benefit of our souls and bodies. Bless the preaching of your Word today in this community and around the world. We thank you for the care which has watched over us in the hours of darkness. Bless today the services of this congregation and all churches of Christ throughout the world. We ask your forgiveness for all sins of commission and omision since we last met at this place of worship. Make us more earnest about our salvation and more watchful over ourselves. Give us a good understanding of your word that we will study this morning. In the name of Christ we ask it. Amen.

Holy Father in heaven: We thank You for the pivilige of presenting our material gifts to you. You have provided all our needs and you have blessed our lives bountifully with many good things. We render to you now a small part of that which justly belongs to you. Bless it now to its intended use. We ask your blessings on this part of today's service. In Jesus name Amen.

Almighty and everlasting, our heavenly Father. we thank You for this Lord's Day, and that you have given us the privilege of coming together to break the bread as the disciples of Jesus, to sing and make melody in our hearts and to study our word. We know that your inspired word gives light to our pathway. We need this light to guide our minds and make us wise unto salvation. We pray that you will bless all who are listening to your word today wherever they may be. Lead us all by your inspired word, and finally save us with an everlasting salvation. We ask it in the name of Jesus, the one Mediator between You and all men.

Lord God Almighty who was and is and who is to come, holy is your name and the name of your Son Christ Jesus. We thank you for another Lord's Day and for bringing us together as a s mall part of one body, the church on earth, to exalt your name and the name of your only beloved Son Christ Jesus. The church is your divine sanctuary on earth, the temple of God built by Jesus, and it is the only source of Divine truth on the face of the earth. May it continue to grow and multiply among all nations of the earth. Your thoughts are not our thoughts and your ways are not our ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are your thoughts higher than our thoughts and your ways higher than our ways. Thank you for ordaining the observance of the Lord's Supper an essential part of every Lord's Day worship. We are well aware that as often as we break the bread and drink from the cup on every Lord's Day we show to saint and sinner the Lord's death till He comes again. To all true Christians these are precious words never to be forgotten. Jesus determined that His followers should never forget that His death, burial and resurrection from dead forms the platform for God's plan to save the human race. We ask now that you look down in mercy on us and forgive us of the thoughts, words and deeds that we acknowledge have been contrary to your divine will. In the name of Jesus we offer this prayer. Amen.

As we break the bread and drink the cup, on this His day, in loving remembrance of the divinely appointed Savor of he world, it fills us with the responsibility of self-examination. We do not see ourselves as others see us but as Christ Jesus knows us. We come to you in the name Christ requesting the forgiveness of our sins. Almighty God and everlasting Father of all mankind, we thank you for this asembly of saints, and we ask your blessings upon us. It is with reverence and gratitude we bow our heads in your presence. We have come together on another Lord's Day to honor you in praise, song and worship. We acknowledge you as Creator, Lord, and Master of our lives. We thank you for all the beautiful things you have created and for the provisions you have made to give us a life that will never die. We thank you for sending Jesus and for the great love wherewith He loved us. We give thanks for those who have received the good things of Your creation but render no thanks for all You allow them to enjoy. We pray that you will not hold it against them, for they know not what they do. Hear our prayer for the peace of the world and for the lives of men and women of our nation whose lives have been cut short by war in Iraq and Afghanistan. We pray for their families suffering from loss of loved ones. Give our President and members of Congress the wisdom to make wise decisions that are best for the world in these troublesome times. Forgive us for all that we have done wrong in our lives; forgive our sins of omission and commission. Help us to live our lives as those ought to live whom You have created, redeemed and loved. In the name of Christ we pray. Amen

Lord God of heaven and earth, it is by you that we live, move and have our being. We come to you in the name of Jesus who walks among the seven golden candlesticks, who ever walks among His churches observing, commending and correcting. We come into your courts with thanksgiving and praise for all earthly and spiritual blessings are in Christ. You have blessed us with all spiritual blessings of a heavenly nature. In Christ we have all blessings of the body and the soul. Take away everything from us that would hinder us in worshiping you in spirit and in truth. Take away from our memory sorrow, care, and the things of earth that we might concentrate on things that are above. We ask your forgiveness as we come into Your presence for those things that are amiss in our lives. The world with its attraction and influence is a great temptation. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. May none of us contribute to the evil that is in the world, either directly or indirectly, but may we contribute always to the good that is in the world. May the church be honored and built up by those who have believed and have been buried with Christ in baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. May the church have a greater acceptance in all nations. Make your face to shine upon us in this hour of worship. We ask all these things in the name of Christ. Amen.

Make us remember that every day is your gift and ought to be used according to your command. Give us those things you know we stand in need of. We have so little wisdom and strength. We pray for those more unfortunate than we, for those who are ill, for those who are in sorrow, and for many who are troubled because of the illness of others.
